Altitude Construction

Turn a Slope Into Usable Yard

A retaining wall holds a hillside where it belongs and hands you flat, usable ground in front of it. Built right, it stops erosion, keeps water moving away from the house, and looks like part of the landscape rather than a repair.

Engineered to Hold

A wall this size is holding back tons of wet soil, and most failures come down to drainage and base prep rather than the blocks. We compact a proper footing, build in the drainage and reinforcement the height calls for, and set the batter so the wall stays put instead of leaning out a few winters from now.

Warranties in Writing

The materials carry a 25-year warranty and our labor carries a one-year warranty, covering both the engineering and the build. If something isn't right, you have it on paper.

Block, Stone, Timber, or Concrete

Segmented block, natural stone, timber, and poured concrete each carry a different look and a different price, from rustic to clean and contemporary. Height and site conditions narrow the field, and we'll tell you honestly which options are actually suited to your slope.

One to Two Weeks on Site

Most walls take seven to fourteen days, depending on height, length, and how hard the site is to work. Excavation, drainage, base compaction, and the wall itself are handled by the same crew, and you'll know what's happening on each day they're there.

Buys You Yard You Couldn't Use

A slope you can't stand on becomes level ground for a patio, a lawn, or planting beds. It also stops the erosion that eats away at that hillside every spring, which is cheaper to prevent than to repair once the soil has moved.

Veteran-Owned and Family-Run

Altitude Construction is veteran-owned and family-operated. You deal with the people whose name is on the truck, from the first site walk to the last course of block.

Our process

Our Retaining Wall Process

Four steps, from reading the slope to walking the finished wall with you.

  1. Step 01

    Consultation and Design Planning

We come out and read the site — how it falls, where the water goes, what's holding the grade now — and talk through what you want out of the space. What you get back is a design built for that slope rather than a wall dropped onto it.

  2. Step 02

    Estimate and Approval

The estimate comes to you broken out piece by piece, so you can see what each part of the job accounts for. Once you approve it, a partial payment gets the prep work moving.

  3. Step 03

    Construction and Updates

Our crew builds the wall and you hear from us as it goes. Excavation, drainage and base compaction all happen before the first course is set — that's the part that decides whether the wall is still straight in twenty years.

  4. Step 04

    Final Quality Check and Walkthrough

When the wall is up we review the work, clear the site down, and walk the whole run with you. Nothing gets handed over until you've seen it and it's right by you.

Common questions

Retaining Wall Services FAQs

The questions that come up most often before a retaining wall job starts.

Why Build a Retaining Wall?

Two reasons, usually. The practical half is that it holds back soil that's on the move and takes charge of where water drains. The other half is that it turns an awkward slope into something you can actually look at and use.

What Materials Do You Use?

Stone, brick and concrete. Each one trades off differently between how it holds up and how it looks, so we go through them with you and pick what suits both the job the wall has to do and the property it's sitting on.

How Long Does It Take to Build?

Two to seven days for most walls, depending on the size of the run and how complicated the site is. You get a proper timeline with the estimate rather than a rough guess.

Can the Wall Be Customized?

Yes, and most of our walls are. The design gets built around your property's style and what you want it to look like, rather than pulled off a standard spec.

What Does a Retaining Wall Cost?

It comes down to the size of the wall, the material you choose and how difficult the site is to work. We offer flexible payment options including financing, so the cost can be spread out rather than paid in one go.

Do You Offer Warranties?

We do — a year on our labor and 25 years on the material, so you've got the structure and the workmanship both covered in writing.

A little bit about us

Sixty years in business, and we still handle the whole job ourselves — design, installation and the upkeep that keeps it looking right years later. Our crew has worked properties all over the area, and we treat every yard the way we'd treat one on our own street.

We build with durable, low-waste materials wherever we can, and we'd rather take an extra day than hand back work we aren't proud of. We're glad to be part of this community, and we'd like to earn a spot on your property.
